In order to provide smoother connectivity to the daily commuters, the state government is planning to extend Jaipur Metro Phase 1 B. The extended route will move from Chandpole to Badi Chaupar UP to Ramganj Chaupar. At present, the Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) is working on the stretch between Chandpole to Badi Chaupar UP.
The above stretch is of 2.4 km and after extension, it will increase to 3 km. The estimated cost expenditure of this entire metro corridor is Rs 280 crores.
As per a senior official of the JMRC, the metro authority is currently working on the proposal and will soon send it to the state cabinet for the final approval.
Besides this corridor, work on Jaipur Metro corridor Phase-2 is also underway. It will be a 23.09 km long stretch with 20 stations. The work on this route is scheduled to be completed by 2021. The line will connect Sitapura Industrial Area in the South to Ambabari in the North via Ajmeri Gate and MI Road.
For the above line, the state government has asked the government authorities to allocate fund for the route. As per the DPR, both central and state authorities have to invest funds on a 50-50 basis. The authorities are seeking assistance for the same.
The Pink City Jaipur got its first metro in 2015. It is the first metro in India to run on triple-storey elevated road and metro track. Phase- 1A of the route runs between Mansarovar to Chandpole Bazaar, a 9.63 km long route. It has 9 serving stations.
