Metro to start operations in Agra, Kanpur and Meerut by 2024: State Government

In a move to flourish the connectivity and real estate market in key cities of Uttar Pradesh, the state government is planning to launch metro projects in Agra, Kanpur, and Meerut. So ,if all goes well, then the metro will start its operation in these cities by 2024. The estimated cost of the complete project is Rs 43,800 crore.

Metro Network in Agra

In order to give a makeover to the city of Taj, the UP government has recently released Rs 175 crore for the project. The commencement of the metro will not only boost the real estate market of the city but also add momentum to the tourism sector. Lots of travelers from all over the world visit Agra to see Taj Mahal.

Out of the overall estimated cost, Rs 13,000 crore will be used to develop two metro corridors in Agra.

Metro Network in Meerut

Meerut has been allotted Rs 13,800 cr for the Metro Project development. At present, work on Delhi-Meerut rapid rail transit system is already going on. With the development of a 33 km metro rail network, the real estate market of the city will become more prosperous and buyer friendly.

Metro Network in Kanpur

Known for its traffic jams, a well-developed metro network will not only ease congestion on roads but also enhance connectivity in the major areas. A total of Rs 17,000 cr will be used to develop 31 stations in the city. A 30-km long route is proposed for the development with most of the station to be built underground.
