Tamil Nadu a Home to Maximum Green Buildings, says Report

According to the report of U.S. Green Building Council [USGBC], Tamil Nadu has the maximum number of green building projects in the country.

 

The State ranked number one in the listing of environment-friendly buildings of the country. Tamil Nadu has a total of 118 projects that covers 4.91 crore sq. ft. green space. Following next-in-line is Maharastra as it has 205+ projects with a green cover of 3.67 crore sq. ft.

 

An official of Green Business Certification Inc (GBCI) said that, India is leading the green building movement as various states are doing exceptionally well in order to build more of the eco-friendly buildings.

 

The green building concept comprises of various elements like:

  • Solar Power Energy
  • Rainwater Harvesting
  • Spacious Green Areas

 

The U.S. Green Building Council [USGBC] rate cities on the basis of gross square feet (GSF) of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design [LEED] which is a green building rating system to offer marks to States in the country.

 

Apart from these two states, Karnataka, Haryana, Delhi, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal follow the positions respectively.
