1.28 lakh more Affordable Houses Sanctioned under PMAY(urban)

Housing & Urban Affairs ministry has once again approved the construction of 1.28 lakh more affordable houses to provide benefits to people under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) scheme. This approval was given in a recently concluded meeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee. A total investment of 9,364 cr along with central assistance of Rs. 1,928 cr has been provided by the government.

 

The Ministry has sanctioned projects located across 184 cities in the states of Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Puducherry(UT). While Haryana has been sanctioned with highest numbers of affordable houses which is 62,451 houses in 33 cities and towns with an investment of Rs. 6,844 cr with central assistance of Rs.937 cr, Uttar Pradesh got 36,056 houses in 95 cities and towns with an investment of Rs. 1,287 cr and central assistance of Rs.541 cr.

 

The list is followed by Chhattisgarh and Puducherry where 28,029 affordable houses in 54 cities with an investment of Rs. 1,151 cr and central assistance of Rs.420 cr and 1,973 houses in 2 cities and towns with an investment of Rs. 83 cr with central assistance of Rs.30 cr respectively.

 

With this approval, cumulative houses under PMAY(U) would now become 39,15,402 after final approval from CSMC.  Further addition of more projects of RAY scheme the total number of affordable houses being funded under PMAY(Urban) would be 40,57,250 houses.
